Kids' Corner
SAFETY TIPS - Never fly kites or model airplanes near power lines.
- A wet string can conduct lightning. Never fly a kite on a cloudy day.
- Never climb trees near power lines.
- Never climb electric poles or electric towers.
- Stay away from electric substations and equipment.
- Do not go near downed power lines. Tell an adult if you see a fallen line and keep everybody away.
- Never touch a person or a thing that is in contact with a fallen wire.
- Never use electric appliances near water.
- Never overload outlets.
- Never put things in electrical outlets. Plastic safety covers are a good idea to install.
- Check wires, extension cords, and appliances regularly for signs of wear.
- Do not run electric cords under rugs or furniture.
- Never play with electric cords and plugs.
- Never touch anything that runs on electricity when your hands are wet.
- If you are in the bathtub or standing on a wet floor, never touch anything electrical!
