Garbage and Recycling
Residential garbage service is contracted by the Lafayette Consolidated Government Department of Public Works-Environmental Quality Division with Allied Waste Services (formerly known as BFI Waste System of North America). Residential recycling service is contracted by the Lafayette Consolidated Government Department of Public Works-Environmental Quality Division with The Recycling Foundation.

BFI and Your Home: Tips for Curbside Collection and Drop-Off Residential Garbage Collection
Lafayette City curbside collection is twice a week, and unincorporated Lafayette Parish collection is once a week.
-Place containers on neutral ground or immediately adjacent to the street
-Place containers curbside the night before collection or before 4:00 a.m. the day of collection
-No container should be placed on the street, sidewalk or in any ditch
-Container must not be more than 35 gallons
-Container must be removed from collection location within 24 hours after collection
Yard Waste
All Lafayette City and unincorporated Lafayette Parish residents receive curbside yard waste collection once a week.
-Small items such as grass, leaves and small branches must be containerized
-Maximum size for any one piece of tree waste is as follows:
Maximum Length-Six (6') Feet
Maximum Diameter-Eighteen (18") Inches
Maximum Weight-Fifty (50) Pounds
White Goods (Appliances)
The sellers of white goods (i.e. refrigerators, washers, water heaters, etc.) are responsible for collection, transportation and disposal of all white goods replaced by the delivered unit. White goods not being replaced by a new unit can be placed curbside for collection.
-Once a month curbside collection dependent on location in the city or parish
Computer Equipment
Computer equipment can be brought to Lafayette Charter School for disposal. Call Lafayette Charter School in advance to confirm drop-off schedule and determine if your item is applicable. It is recommended that working computer equipment be brought to local agencies who could benefit from its use.
